Hi,
As shown in this screen-recording (https://bit.ly/3py6giB), this post explores a tip for linking OneNote/Evernote notes to GanttProject using the “Web Link” field (available in “Tasks Properties” dialog). Both OneNote and Evernote provide “App Links” that allow connecting their notes seamlessly with GanttProject by storing those “App Links” under the “Web Link” field. Through OneNote/Evernote integration the user can create rich text notes, tables, etc. for describing a GanttProject task.
Then in the screen-recording two suggestions are made for improving the explored workflow, as well as for making the general trigger of GanttProject “Web Links” faster:
a) Suggestion for making available a Web Link column for faster direct clicking, speeding up the access to OneNote/Evernote notes through the method explained above, as well as for launching any regular URL from GanttProject main view without the need to open the “Tasks Properties” dialog. I’ve attached a snapshot illustrating the interface with the functionality.
b) Another suggestion is to allow the creation of a custom field/column type supporting URLs. The custom URL column would work like “Web Link” suggested in (a). The advantage is that the user would not be limited to store a single “Web Link” as currently available in GanttProject. This way, the user could have the same task linked to a regular URL (e.g. www.myproject.com) as well as linked with OneNote and Evernote at once. I’ve attached a snapshot illustrating the interface with the functionality.
The implementation of suggestion (a) would be much appreciated.
The suggestion (b) is desirable, but just (a) would be a really nice improvement already.
If you need further information, just let me know.
Thank you,
Carlos
