Upgrade from GP 2.8.+ to GP 3.0 is seamless for most of the users, however, we have a few reports from the users who have issues with launching GP 3.0 after the upgrade.
There are a few possible reasons:
- Something is wrong with the settings file. The easiest fix is to remove it. The settings file name is
.ganttproject
and it sits in user’s home folder. It is usuallyC:\Users\<your user name here>
on Windows platforms. Notice the leading dot in the file name. Some file managers may hide such files. - You’re using a Java Runtime which is not bundled with the required JavaFX libraries. This may, but not expected to be the issue for the most of Windows and macOS users because GanttProject 3.0 distributions for Win and macOS come with our own Java Runtime. However, this may affect Linux users who use ZIP distro. The easiest fix is, probably, to install BellSoft Liberica Java Runtime and make sure that it is the default.
If you installed GanttProject 3.0 and it worked fine until you installed a maintenance update, please refer to this knowledge base article
