Lock start date for due date plan

Hi,
Would it be possible to have in a future version of Ganttproject, a checkbox to lock the start date of a started task? This option would be useful to me when I do Due Date plan so that the start date of a task cannot change.

Can you please elaborate on the scenario? What is supposed to happen if a start date must be changed due to dependencies?

In this case, there’s a conflict and the software indicate this. You must do a change on next tasks like shorten tasks for example.

Actually, in GP v3.x you could check if your date (fixed) is in the critical path, which would lead to a risk in the schedule for any change in the predecessors, as shown.

How to schedule project tasks based on an expected end date

I have a project with some tasks and dependencies. I would like to have the date of those tasks calculated based on an expected end date of the whole project. Can you please help me how to handle that ? Many thanks in advance, David

I can do retrospective planning with GP, no problem, but if I want to manage a due date planning, I need to have a lock for started tasks, that’s all.

To distinguish between planned start date and actual start date, use baseline management, available in GP.

Be aware that entering actual dates will update scheduled dates. Even MS Project does it.
