Task Delays and Dependencies

This came by email

I am writing with regard the capabilities of the software.

When the tasks are linked to each other, and one of the task is delayed, I can easily add a delay in the Predecessors section.

However, if the task is not link to any other, I cannot add any delay. What I do now is to increase the time of the task. But I need to see that is a delay rather than keep increasing the task.

Is there any suggestion of feature where this can be done?

What you see in the dependency properties is not a “delay” of a task. It is a lag between two tasks. It says that “the successor start N days after the predecessor finishes”.

If you just need to indicate that your task takes more time than planned, add that time to the task duration. If you want to see the difference between the planned and actual duration (which can be understood as “delays”), you can use the baselines feature.

Thanks for your time and answer.

Can you elaborate more regarding the baseline feature? I am not sure I know what you mean with that.

Thank you for your help
